CME Conference Description:

This course provides an excellent introduction into the use of medical ultrasound.  The goal of the course is to encourage the incorporation of ultrasound techniques into everyday practice to facilitate diagnosis, and improve patient satisfaction. Participants will learn to use the ultrasound probe like a stethoscope to uncover patient anatomy and pathology that lies just below the skin.

CME Conference Objectives

·   Understand the physics, applications, indications and limitations for office and emergency department ultrasound.
·   Understand ultrasound anatomy.
·   Review equipment needs and use.
·   Provide ample hands-on learning with live patients.
·   Recognize the benefits and limitations of office, and emergency department ultrasound.
·   Understand and be comfortable with scanning the “primary” indications for ultrasound in the emergency department.

OB/pelvic ultrasound, overview of transvaginal scanning, hands-on scanning (pending available models)
Cardiac ultrasound, hands on scanning

Day Two

Recap of day 1, questions
FAST scan for intra-abdominal trauma, hands-on scanning
Thyroid and vascular applications, hands-on scanning

Noon-1:00pm

Billing and coding, hands-on scanning, individual skills assessment
