Mike Petrizzi, MD

Dr. Petrizzi received his medical degree from SUNY, DMC and performed his residency and fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill. As an ABFP diplomate, he received the Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine in 1993 and recertified in 2003. He is an active member of the AAFP, a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and is on the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for the VHSL. Dr. Petrizzi is also an Advisory Faculty member for the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Course. Dr. Petrizzi has given numerous lectures and workshops on Sports Medicine and OB. He is co-editor and author of three publications dealing with Sports Medicine including "Sports Medicine for Coaches and Trainers." He has had articles published in "Physician and Sports Medicine" and "American Family Physician". Dr. Petrizzi was the Program Director of the VCU - Hanover Family Physicians Family Medicine Residency until its closure in 2005.
