Michael B. Harper, MD, is Professor of Family Medicine and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He has been the family medicine residency director at this institution since 1984. Dr Harper has performed and taught flexible sigmoidoscopy since 1981, EGD since 1991, and colonoscopy since 1993. Dr. Harper performs EGD and colonoscopy at both the university hospital and community hospitals. He has taught EGD and Colonoscopy workshops for the AAFP and the National Procedure Institute since 1995. Dr. Harper has authored or co-authored four journal articles and five textbook chapters on gastrointestinal endoscopy.
