The National Procedures Institute (NPI) was founded in 1989 by John L. Pfenninger, MD to provide medical education (CME conferences) on procedural skills for primary care clinicians. In 2008, Dr. Pfenninger sold NPI to a joint venture of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.

Over 45,000 clinicians have trained with NPI. NPI is known nationwide as the premier provider of CME procedures training. Click here to read about our prestigious national awards.

NPI was the first to offer medical seminars for obtaining procedural skills. NPI currently offers over 100 CME medical seminars annually at many locations, covering a full range of office procedures, hospital procedures and emergency room procedures.

Our medical conferences can help you:

  • improve continuity of care
  • provide comprehensive services
  • reduce health care costs
  • enjoy an enhanced practice
  • receive CME credits

Our faculty of 36 physicians are tops in their fields. They are esteemed for their leadership in procedures education, their knowledge, and their exciting teaching style. Our medical CME faculty continue to receive first-rate evaluations from NPI administration and attendees alike.

“I have personally attended many NPI courses over the years and they are the only courses that I recommend for education on procedures. I now spend my days performing outpatient procedures, many of which had their roots in education from your organization.”
