2027 Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Scanning and Injection Guidance: The Next Step Course Description
Course Credits: Earn up to 16.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ and AAFP Prescribed Credits.
Course Price: $1,895
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Scanning and Injection Guidance: The Next Step is a two-day course.
Family physicians and other healthcare clinicians can expand their knowledge and practical skills in musculoskeletal ultrasound through this hands-on course focused on ultrasound scanning and ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections. Building on the foundational concepts introduced in the NPI course, Joint Exam and Injections with an Introduction to Ultrasound Guidance: The First Step, this course provides more extensive instruction and practice in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging, anatomical identification, scanning techniques, needle guidance, and ultrasound-guided injections.
The course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other clinicians who have a basic understanding of musculoskeletal ultrasound and are familiar with common musculoskeletal injection techniques. Learners should have foundational knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, ultrasound principles, and basic injection techniques before attending.
Through faculty instruction, live demonstration, and extensive hands-on practice, participants will learn to identify anatomical landmarks and musculoskeletal structures using ultrasound and apply systematic scanning techniques to the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. Learners will practice obtaining and interpreting ultrasound images relevant to common musculoskeletal injections and develop their ability to use ultrasound imaging to guide needle placement.
The course also addresses the indications, contraindications, benefits, and risks of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections and the role of these procedures in the management of common musculoskeletal disorders. Using ultrasound equipment and appropriate training models, participants will practice a systematic approach to ultrasound-guided injection techniques under faculty guidance.
This two-day course emphasizes interactive, hands-on learning and provides participants with opportunities to strengthen their ultrasound scanning and needle guidance skills across multiple anatomical regions. It is designed as the next step for clinicians seeking to build upon foundational musculoskeletal examination and injection skills and further develop their use of ultrasound guidance in clinical practice.
